Why Families Love Living in East Cobb: A Community Centered Around Its Schools
Ask anyone why they moved to East Cobb, and chances are the first thing you will hear is, “the schools.” It is not just about test scores and rankings (though those are impressive). East Cobb schools are the heart of the community. They are where friendships are built, foundations formed, where the neighborhoods come alive at Friday night lights and other sporting events. They are liked extended family where generations of students carry the traditions forward. This holds true for me. I grew up here in East Cobb and my sisters and I graduated from Lassiter High School. I was a proud member of the marching band then directed by the esteemed, Alfred Watkins. Those Friday night lights, competitions, and memories shaped who I am. My mom and dad volunteering as band parents. Now, my kids have followed in my footsteps, two of them already graduated from Lassiter, and another is currently there creating her own memories. Seeing them walk the same halls and carry on the Trojan traditions has been a great joys as a parent. Many updates have been done and additions added on but the skylight hall remains the same and the Trojan community spirit is still the core of Lassiter High School.
That’s the beauty of East Cobb. Our schools aren’t just institutions, they are threads woven into the lives of families across generations. They provide excellent academics, strong athletics, award-winning fine arts, and most importantly, communities that support and celebrate our kids. If you are considering a move to East Cobb, or just curious about what makes this corner of Cobb County so special, our high schools are a big part of the answer. They are where Friday night football games turn into neighborhood reunions, where band parents travel across the country with their kids, and where families feel a real sense of pride watching students achieve big things. The schools in East Cobb are more than just places for academics, they are the backbone of the neighborhoods. They shape the lifestyle, drive real estate demand, and create a sense of pride that is hard to match. For families, living here means more than just buying a house, it is joining a community where education, opportunity, and tradition all come together. And for me, as someone who has lived it and is now watching my kids do the same, I can tell you, East Cobb is one of the best places to call home.
